Shiny New Term, Shiny New Classes - The best classes for children in North London

--> -->As the summer holidays come to an end (she said hopefully), our thoughts are turning to September and all the new classes starting for babies, toddlers, pre-schoolers and after-school activity seekers. We've trawled through loads and come up with a list of those we thist on offer in North London. We've tried to find something a bit different for you to enjoy. Many of them offer a free trial class and some are available for drop in too, so do ask when booking.


The Creation Station run by the lovely Alexia offers classes in Finchley, Muswell Hill and Hampstead for 1-5 year olds. This term the theme is Scrunchy, Bubbly Texture. North London Mums can confirm that the classes are really well structured, good fun and excellent if you have more than one child as they really are suitable for a diverse range of ages. Fine Art 4 Kids encourages children to take an interest in art from a young age and runs classes all over North London in Crouch End, Islington, Highgate, Muswell Hill and Stanmore. They have after school classes and Saturday classes. Each term focuses on a new artist. Full details here.

Teeny Tiny Baby Yoga and Toddler Yoga runs classes for babies and toddlers in Finchley, Totteridge and Borehamwood and offer a lovely opportunity for parent and child to participate together.

Yogababies runs lovely baby massage and baby yoga classes in Crouch End. Courses include a Sunday where dads come along too, which is lovely for bonding. Highly recommended.

Toddler Sense introduces a whole new world of adventure for toddlers and children up to the age of three years. Great music, great equipment and great new ideas! Imagine climbing a snow mountain, going on safari, digging for fossils, swimming with dolphins and hunting for dinosaurs?
Every week introduces a whole new adventure. The main emphasis is on mobility, excitement and adventure. It is a fast-moving, action-packed programme.  Classes take place: Mondays - Hampstead Garden Suburb; Wednesdays- Whetstone; Fridays -  Muswell Hill. Kiddy Cook do fun, explorative cooking classes for 2-4 year olds and 4-11 year olds. Children learn about food and cooking in a fun and interactive way. Classes are held throughout North London. Details here.


Diddidance are a fun way for children to improve their coordination and self confidence. Using hoops, ribbons and other props, children dance to fun music and have a great time at these exhausting classes. Classes are currently held across North London in: Crouch End, Highgate, Highbury, Hackney, Islington, Muswell Hill, North Finchley, Swiss Cottage (at Huggle) and Queens Park so wherever you are there should be one near you. Latino Bambino is a favourite of both North London Mums and North London toddlers. It is thanks to Latino Bambino and the fabulous Urska, that this mum ever got back into her skinny jeans again after pregnancy (now at the back of the wardrobe again, but that's another story....). There are two types of class - a toddler class and a baby wearing class, where you learn simple salsa dances whilst wearing your baby in a sling. We highly recommend this fun and exhausting class! Debutots classes are a blend of storytelling and drama in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. Children are really engaged and grow in confidence as a result of taking part in these classes. Currently classes are held in Crouch End, Muswell Hill, Hampstead, Highgate, Finchley, Islington, Camden and St Johns Wood.

Fairly new to North London, Theatrebugs classes are crammed with story, music, song, bubble time, puppets, imaginary journey and finger play and tie in with The Early Years Foundation. Children really love the classes and parents can watch their confidence bloom as the term goes on. Highly Recommended. Classes run in Hampstead Garden Suburb, Finchley, Crouch End, Muswell Hill and Mill Hill.

Hartbeeps classes offer a colourful and exciting way for children to enjoy music. North London Toddler could not believe her eyes when all of the fantastic props were brought out for her to enjoy and was very sad when the class was over. Highly recommended. You can also drop in. Mini Mozart is run by serious musicians, serious about introducing children to music in a non-patronising and exciting way. Not an annoying ditty in site, this is a really lovely way to introduce children to live music and is hugely enjoyable for parents and children alike. They offer a range of classes - babies, toddlers, pre-schoolers and siblings so there will be something to suit everyone. The franchise is growing a lot and now covers: Crouch End, Finchley (new), Hampstead, Highgate, Muswell Hill and St Johns Wood. Highly Recommended. You can also drop in. Full details here.


Enjoyaball runs classes for children aged 18 months to school year 3. Classes run in Golders Green and are a really fun way to introduce children to ball skills.

Something Different

We really love the sound of Bookworm Yoga which runs at Huggle in Swiss Cottage. Cretator Barb combines her two passions of reading and yoga in a fun class for children aged 3-7. We can't wait to try it out. It is advisable to contact Barb in advance as classes get booked up. Full details here.
