In North West London, there is the fab Gracelands Yard, which as well as hosting a range of great classes has a lovely and family friendly cafe.  We've included our favourites in the listings below but you can see full timetable here.

There is a drop in at the Peggy Jay Centre on Parliament Hill at 10am and 1pm.  Indoor and outdoor play. Free.

West London Tots are running classes all week at The Alice House in Queens Park. Classes include Rock-a-bye Babies, Baby Massage, Sing and Sign, Yoga Babies, Pregnancy Yoga and Diddi Dance. Mini Mozart is an unusual and engaging music class where the idea is to get children actually listening, not just hearing. Each class is a mini musical featuring a piano accompanist, violin, clarinet, percussion, bubbles, a parachute and is based around a different fairy tale. Classes are organised into Babies, Toddlers, Siblings and Pre-school (a drop-in class). There are daily classes in different venues in North London (including a new Wednesday class at the Arts Depot in Finchley) and we recommend checking the site for the class nearest you!
Hartbeeps offers unique baby and toddler class, offering a multi-sensory musical experience for children. Using clever music production, original music composition, sound effects, songs and sound plays, lighting effects, innovative props and puppetry together with a vast array of multi-sensory techniques, Hartbeeps creates original and highly specialised mini productions for young children. The classes are organised into age groups from Baby Bells (babies) to Baby Beeps- 6 months to walking- to Happy House- toddlers.  There are classes in Finchley and North Finchley, Barnet  and also Crouch End and Muswell Hill. Monday



There is storytime at Big Green Bookshop in Wood Green at 11am. Free coffee and flapjacks for all. This event happens Monday, Wednesday and Friday at this lovely bookshop. All welcome.

Al's Little Singers a new and lovely music group for little ones is meeting at the Clissold Arms on Fortis Green (105 Fortis Green, London N2 9HR). Start time is 10.45am for 11am. .



The fantastic Eddy is playing his eeny meeny music at 9.15, 10.15 and 11.15 in Muswell Hill. Full details here.

Anna runs Tiny Talk,  Baby Sing and Sign at 11am in The Boiler House, George Downing Estate, Cazenove Road, N16,  a great way to have fun, and communicate with your little one, especially before they can talk.

Arty Hands has a weekly sessions at 10am for pre-school toddlers with arts and crafts based around a weekly theme and regular messy play activities. Come down and have fun with your toddler. England's Lane Bookshop in Hampstead has storytime at 11am for under 5s.  Come along for stories and rhymes.

The Baa Baa Club, Church Hall, Kentish Town is a friendly fun music group for babies and toddlers which takes place 10- 11 every Monday and Friday. The class is drop-in and costs £4 per session.  Older siblings who enjoy music like to come at half terms!



The DaCapo Music Foundation has opened a new center in Barnet and is hosting its first classes on Monday 19 September toddlers 10-10.30 and Early years 11-11.45. The classes take place at St Stephen's Church Hall, Spring Close, Bells Hill, EN5 2UR. The classes are based on the unique DaCapo approach to teaching children music. 

Mini Music takes place every Monday at Finchley Methodist Church, Ballards Lane, Finchley, London, N3 1NB.  The classes are carefully tailored to the development of children from 1 to 5 years and include singing to a guitar and percussion instruments.  As children progress through the groups, they grow in confidence, learning a wide variety of songs and rhymes which they will enjoy repeating at home.There are 3 sessions: 9.45-10.30 for babies to 3 year olds, 10.30 - 11.15 for 2.5 to 4 year olds, and 2 - 2.45pm for 3 to 4 year olds. £4.50 per session in the morning and £5 per session for the afternoon group, payable termly.

Jabberjacks runs a class every Monday morning 10am at Muswell Hill Methodist Church. 

Rucksack Music runs at That Place on The Corner in Newington Green at 2pm. Drop in. £4.50 from 6 months.

Jabberjacks  offers a unique combination of puppets and music, delivered against a background of drama and play to help little ones develop physical and social skills, confidence and knowledge. Classes take place Monday 10 am Muswell Hill Methodist Church, Holly Room, 28 Pages Lane, N10 1PP and are run on a drop in pay as you go basis.

Dramavision, is created and taught by Dina Leander and Marianne Harris, professional children’s theatre leaders, who believe in the joy of song, music and dance for little ones. The classes are aimed at children 22 months to 4 years and includes original music, specially designed for little movers before and classic and original stories brought to life with puppets, props and sensory play! The class takes place in Muswell Hill: Quaker Meeting House, Church Crescent, N10 5NE (10.30am-11.20am) Cost: £96 for the 12-week term,  £8 for a trial- join at anytime in the term and pay for the remaining sessions.

Mini-Ps sessions from Perform take place in Hampstead Garden Suburb Free Church Northway, Hampstead Garden Suburb, London, NW11 7AG at the following times: Starters 11.40-12.30, Walkers 10-10.35, Talkers 10.45-11.35.

Debutots class for 2-4 years takes place 10- 10.50  and for 6 months to 2 years from 10.55 to 11.45 at Friends Meeting House, 120 Heath Street, Hampstead, London NW3 1DR. Pleasing School of Ballet holds a pre-school ballet class in Hampstead between 3:15 - 3:45pm at St Saviours Church. Eton Rd. NW3 4SU. Pre-booking is required.

Tuesday


Butterfly World Project in St Albans has Time for Splodgers at 10.15 and 11.15, an art class that encourages children to get creative. 

That Place On The Corner has a drop in Arts and Crafts Session for 4+ at 4pm.

From Tuesday 6 September, the Creation Station, Lawn Road, N3, Hampstead, runs a weekly exploration Arts and Crafts Session  for 1 to 5 year olds from 10.10 to 11. Classes can be booked in advance or can be attended on a drop-in basis for £8.


At Gracelands Yard in Kensal Rise, there is Toddler Picassos for 15 months to 3 years at 9.30 and 10.30 and Mini Picassos for 5-7 years at 4pm and 8-12 year olds at 5pm. Children get to explore their creativity and the older ones will create masterpieces, all under the eye of an experienced art teacher. Little Hands Design run sewing classes in Belsize Park for children 4-5.30 and 5.30-7 - the skills that are taught include sewing by hand, using a sewing machine, draping and measuring, use of ready-made sewing patterns as well as pattern making and free design. Children will learn to develop their own design ideas and style by choosing their favourites from our own designs to get started. Tools and fabrics are supplied, but they encourage all children to develop expertise and experience in selecting their own materials. Drop in sessions can be booked if you email or call. The lovely Emporium on Fortis Green Road, East Finchley, has an after school crafts club at 4pm for 5+. This 5 week course costs £60 and starts 20th September. More details here.

Bouncing Beans, a fun music class aimed at toddlers, takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10 am at St John's Hall, Friern Barnet Lane at 10am. The classes cost £5 and last 45 minutes. A really relaxed and enjoyable class with a lovely teacher!

Culture Kids run music classes in Hampstead at Pizza Express on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. A maximum of twelve children per class ensures the classes stay small and friendly. There is a different theme every week and lovely toys and props. You can join any week but must sign up for the rest of the term.


Pop Up Tales is in Crouch End at the Rokesly Children's Centre. A storytelling class for babies and toddlers at 10.30am.

Showstoppers is hosting a new Mini Showstoppers class for children aged 3 to 6 between 4.30 and 5.30pm on a pay as you go basis at the Freehold Commnity Centre Muswel Hill. More details here.

Theatrebugs takes place 10 – 10:45am -Temple Fortune, Alyth Synagogue Hall, Alyth Gardens, NW11

Diddi Dance is holding a class at 9.30 at Elmfield Avenue, Crouch End, London, N8 8QG. There is also a class at 10.30 in Islington at  70-72 Barnsbury Rd, Islington, N1 0ES. This class also takes place at 10.30 on a Thursday. From 1 November classes will be taking place at the West Hampstead Community Centre at 10 am at 17 Dornfell Street, Hampstead, London NW6 1QN.

The Islington Arts Factory  holds its MiniMoves class from 5-5.30. Aimed at 4 to 5 year olds, the class teaches the basics of dance by stimulating the imagination through role play, dance games and stories.


Bouncing Beans takes place on Tuesday and Thursdays at 10 am at St John's Church Hall, Friern Barnet Lane, N20. The session last 45 minutes, and cost £5 on a drop in basis. The classes promise lots of songs and actions, music and dancing, with the emphasis on participation. 

Flamingos Dance offers a range of ballet classes at St Gregory's Church, 82 Union Street, High Barnet, Hertfordshire EN5 4HZ on a Tuesday and Saturday. Classes are grouped into Baby Ballet (3+), Primary Ballet (4-5 years) and Junior Ballet 6 years +. Fees £4-£6 payable termly in advance. Checkout the website for times.



Littledanceflavourz takes place on Tuesdays at Fitness First in Finchley from 4 to 4.45.  Little Dance Flavourz’s vision is to provide the perfect ‘express yourself’ environment for 2-5 year olds, covering a range of dance styles as diverse as Bollywood, Latin, Hip Hop and Belly dancing.

Wednesday


Gail's Artisan Bakery, in Crouch End is hosting a storytime in association with Hornsey Library at 3pm.  Join them for a magical hour of storytelling plus free milk and cookies. Yum. Most suited for 3+ but bring the whole family along. This is running every Thursday. Full details here. Amanda's Action Club has a drop in class at Huggle at 9.30am and 10.30am. 

 

Caterpillar Music is running a drop in session at Butterfly World, St Albans. There will be songs, puppets, colourful instruments and lots of surprises. For babies and children 0-4 years.

Kentish Town City Farm has a fab sounding after school pottery club. Mould, sculpt, stretch, pummel and play with clay. Suitable for all ages, this highly successful pottery club has now been runnning for five years at the farm. 4pm-5pm, cost £1.50.

100 Acres on Heath Street in Hampstead is running a drop in art class at 9.30am for 1.5+ and an after school art club for older children at 3.30pm.

There is a drop in at The Alice House in Queen's Park for parents of newborns to six months, run by Kate Clarke an antenatal teacher from Birth and Baby Wise and the NCT. 10.30-12.30 every fortnight. £3 plus refreshments.  Dates - 14 September, 28 September, 12 October, 9 November, 23 November and 7 December.

 From Thursday 8 September, the Creation Station, St. Mary's Hall, Hendon Lane, Finchley runs a weekly Exploration Arts and Crafts Session  for 1 to 5 year olds from 10.10 to 11. Classes can be booked in advance or can be attended on a drop-in basis for £8.

From Thursday 15 September, ArtyCraftKids at Totteridge Tennis Club is holding messy play sessions from 10- 10.50 and 11- 11.50am. a Free taster session is available at £7, after which yo need to book half a term in advance at £6.50 per session. The sessions are planned to help children explore colour, shape, texture and pattern through a wide range of art and craft experiences. Children are encouraged to wander from activity to activity to allow them to explore at their own pace.


Fine Arts 4 Kids runs after school classes teaching fine art skills  at Middle Lane Methodist Church, Crouch End, N8 8NT between 4.00-5.00 or 5.15-6.15.The cost is £54 for a 6 week course.

Culture Kids run art classes at Pizza Express in Hampstead at 10, 11, 12, 2, 3 and 4pm for 2-6 year olds. Each week there a different theme and carefully planned-out class. Like Culture Kids, each class is about the wonderful world around us.You can join the class at any stage but then need to pay for the rest of the term as this class is not available as a drop-in. Green Man Community Centre, East Finchley has a stay and play messy play 9.30-11.30 for 0-5s. Cost £1 per child.

Messy Play at the Arts Depot, North Finchley, runs weekly each Thursday for under 2s at 10am and 11.15 and over 2s at 2pm. £5.Book in advance. This glass is really interactive and fun but be prepared to get really messy! Arts Depot has really increased its children's classes offer recently, so do click here to see the excellent timetable. We'll be featuring more of their classes in this series of posts. We are big fans.

The Made-By-Me Mum's Club at Gracelands Yard is running for a further 3 weeks, every Thursday afternoon, 2 - 3.15pm. In this week's craft class you'll make a wooden name plaque for your little ones door or cot. And the best bit is you can bring your baby with you.

Rhythm and Rhymes is a weekly music group for mums and babies (0-18 months) (dads and carers also welcome) run by the music therapy experts at Nordoff Robbins. This is a music charity whose aim is to transform the lives of the young and vulnerable.  The sessions are held at the Nordoff Robbins Centre NW5 and are an opportunity  to join in with familiar nursery rhymes, using musical toys,  in a relaxed and supportive environment. The session starts at 9.30 am and costs £3.

Do Re Mi Fa Cha Cha Cha is a unique musical experience in Stoke Newington that draws on the most effective aspects of the Western European Classical music traditions in combination with these other aural/ oral based world traditions of teaching and music making.Sessions are at St Marys Community Centre at 1.30pm from 3 months. The first session is free if you sign up for the term.

Dreambox classes take place 10-10.45 at 128 Crouch Hill London N8 9DY, and in the afternoon 3.30- 4.15 for pre-schoolers and 4.30- 5.15 Reception and Year 1 at 100 Acres, 84 Heath Street, Hampstead.

The wacky and fun Tales From The Shed returns at 11.30am to Chickenshed after the summer break. Suitable for 0-7s. Really good fun.

Exhaust the kids at the fab Zumbatomic - a zumba class for children aged 4-12 in Finchley at 4pm.

Aimed at children 18 months to 5 years, the session offers a variety of Messy Play activities ranging from Playdough, paint and glue to using pippettes, fabrics, clean mud, crazy foam. Classes are limited to 12 children. Regular Members: £6 per class, pre-paid Half Termly, drop in (subject to space) is £7 per class. 

Kentish Town City Farm has a messy play drop in 10-12 for the under 5s. £4 per child and great fun.

100 Acres on Heath Street in Hampstead is running a drop in art class at 9.30am for 1.5+ and an after school art club for older children at 3.30pm.

England's Lane Bookshop in Hampstead has storytime at 4pm.  Come along for stories and rhymes. 


Little Wonders Music Group in Whetstone is a warm and caring music group for toddlers. The classes  start and end with the same songs to give the children a feeling of security, stablility and confidence. The songs are a mixture of well known nursery rhymes and a few new songs with lots of action songs and songs with props. The class is at St Johns Hall, Friern Barnet Lane , Whetstone at 10 am. £3.50 per session.

Anna runs Tiny Talk,  Baby Sing and Sign at 10am and 11.15am in the South Crypt Room, St Mary's Church, Upper Street, N1,  a great way to have fun, and communicate with your little one, especially before they can talk. 10am and 11.15am in the South Crypt Room, St Mary's Church, Upper Street, N1.


The fabulous Arts Depot hosts Theatre Bugs each Friday 10 to 10.45.


Mini Music from Haringey Shed takes place 10:30 – 11:15 am  and encourages little ones (2-4) to learn music through storytelling, natural play and movement! "Stomp like bears, scamper like squirrels, and become part of a theatrical journey through a jungle of music and song". £3 per week.

Debutots classes take place at Muswell Hill Methodist Church, 28 Pages Lane, Muswell Hill, London N10 1PP for 2-4 years (9.30-10.25), 6months- 2 years (10.30- 11.25) and  2-4 years (11.30- 12.25).
Dreambox class also takes place 9.45am - 10.30am, That Place on the Corner, Green Lanes, Newington Green, N16 9BS.

Pitta Patta dance classes take place at Primrose Hill Community Centre, Hopkinson Place, off Fitzroy Road, NW1for children 5- 8 years 3:45pm-4:30pm and 8- 13 years  4:30pm-5:30pm.

Dinky Dancers takes place at 10 am at Mill Hill East Church, Quench Cafe, Salcombe Gardens, NW7 2NT.

Baby Ballet classes take place at  Hornsey Vale Community Centre, 60 Mayfield Road, N8 9LP.  See Baby Ballet website for class times.

West Hampstead Library has Rhyme Time at 10.30am for 2-4 year olds and Story Time at 4.15pm for 5-7 year olds.
Swiss Cottage Library has Rhyme Time for under 5s 10.30am.
Chalk Farm Library has Rhyme Time at 2.30pm.
North Finchley Library has Toddler Rhyme Time at 11.15am.
Lewis Carroll Children's Library, Islington has under 5s story time at 11am.
