Website of the week: Airbnb!

As Autumn creeps in are you already thinking about your next family holiday? or are you looking for a weekend getaway with your other half?

Airbnb is a fantastic site offering an innovative way to find and book holiday accommodation.

The website's USP is "unlocking unique spaces worldwide". It offers a huge range of accommodations  - from private homes to private islands in over 16,000 cities in 186 countries. Looking for a castle or villa? a houseboat or a yacht? If you are looking for a unique experience, and the opportunity to discover a local side of cities and cultures, at a price point to suit your budget, then this is the site for you.

To use the site you need to sign in either through your facebook account or with your email. Then simply plug in your location and dates and the site will instantly generate available spaces, in a list or map format. Each listing features photos, a description and any reviews. You contact the owner directly through an onsite messaging service which means that you can easily find out more information about the rental, and the surrounding area. The site even tells you the response rate of the owner which is useful.

It is equally easy to list a place if you have somewhere you wish to rent out on a vacation basis. Simply complete a profile, upload photos, set the price and availability. Guest enquiries and bookings take place through the site.

What we love about this site is that it is all about a community sharing really exciting and unusual places. The site also features daily deals and curated collections which allow you to get a flavour of some of the exciting locations on offer.

There's also a great iPhone app where you can search, list and share from your phone,

The site has cleverly built in features to support your experience including a host guarantee and a suite of consumer protection tools which, lets face it, are important when you are renting privately.

So if you are looking for some inspiration- dip in and enjoy!
