It's the Weekend! Lots of festive fun..food, wine and chocolate!

Lots going on this weekend- festive and non festive! From fairs to theatre to foodie delights (did we mention chocolate?!) there's lots to keep everyone amused!

All Weekend

For seasonal fun, both the Museum of London and the Museum of London Docklands are hosting a Victorian themed Santa's grotto which opens this Saturday.

The Harringay Winter  Festival is taking place across the weekend, from noon on Saturday, in Green Lanes.  Festival highlights include an icerink, Vintage mobile cinema and Christmas village. Suitable for all ages.





There are a number of theatrical treats on offer this weekend. Little Angel Theatre is showing Goldilocks for children aged 2-5. Using table-top puppetry and musical influences from around the world, this production promises to bring this classic story to life with a twist.

The Arts Theatre, WC2 is showing The Lazy Elf for children aged 4-9yrs, which tells the story of Larry the Lazy Elf- who with a little help from the audience gets the toys made on time! 

This is also the first weekend to see the Hans Christian Andersen Fairy Tales at the Pleasance Theatre, in Islington  which brings to life some of his best loved stories. Suitable for children 4+.

We love the sound of the Chocolate Festival returning again to the Southbank Centre this weekend. Highlights include samples from the world’s best Chocolatiers, the opportunity to meet Britain’s best artisan chocolate producers and pick up delectable gifts for friends and family plus tutored tasting. Yum.



Christmas is coming to Kew this weekend with Santa arriving in his grotto from this weekend, as well as a childrens' carousel, facepainting,  mulled wine and mince pies.

St Mark's Church, Barnet is holding a Christmas tree festival across the weekend and Christmas Bazaar on Saturday 10.30- 3pm. There will be stalls with Christmas Crafts, Cakes, Toys and Books, Tombola, Raffle, Santa's Grotto (Children's activities) and Refreshments.

The Chickenshed's Tales from the Big Shed is running from 10 to 17 December, promising lots of laughter, fun and silliness.  For children aged 0-7 years.

Saturday

Eat, drink and be merry in Muswell Hill! with a large range of shopping deals and freebies on offer from restaurants and shops in Muswell Hill for the Muswell Hill Christmas event taking place all day. There will also be a festive market at the O'Neill's pub from 11am to 5pm. Music, food, mulled wine- sounds fab! 

The Arts Depot  is showing Mr Boom's Turn of the Year Show for children aged 3 to 8. 10- 10.45 and 11 to 11.30. An Edinburgh Fringe Festival favourite, Mr Boom is landing his spaceship and family friendly One Man Band in Highgate for an extravaganza of songs, music and joining in to celebrate the end of the year! 

We love the sound of Breakfast with Santa at Zebra in Muswell Hill between 9  and 10am.  Santa will be having breakfast and then doing his handprint together with your child's handprint on a plate as a unique memento of this very special event. Free pastries and hot drinks, Christmas tunes.... Get your tickets soon to avoid disappointment.

Somerset House is hosting holiday drop-in workshops from 11- 1pm and 2-4pm. Children will be able to make festive paper lanterns and sparkly decorative pom-poms using recycled materials.

The West Hampstead Christmas Community Market is taking place from 10am to 4pm on West End Green and Emmanuel Church. There will be over 25 stalls, and festive food, drinks and discounts from local traders. yey!


Sunday

The Gruffalo's Child starts its run at the Arts Depot in North Finchley. One of the cuddliest monsters ever returns with more songs, laughter and scary fun. For children 3+.

There is a Chanukah Fair and Fun Day at the London Jewish Cultural Centre, 12.30-5pm. There will be activities for all the family and a fantastic Chanukah gift fair. For the shoppers:  jewellery, ceramics, pashminas, books, hand-made cards, scarves, Judaica, leather goods, glass, bath & body care, children’s gifts and much more…For the kids:(from 2.30)Ages 2-8: doughnut decorating and arts and crafts including dreidl, candle and jewellery making. Ages 8+: learn the art of cartooning with professional cartoonists.



There is an eco design Christmas Market in in Abney Public Hall, Stoke Newington from 10.30 to 5pm.  It is organised bu Eco-Bazaar which organises earth-friendly, one day pop-up designer markets aimed at introducing eco-conscious buyers to like minded traders and service providers.

The King's Troop Royal Horse artillery is holding an open day  from 1.30pm to 4.30pm, to mark that the King's Troop RHA is leaving St John's Wood after 200 years.  This is the last chance to see inside- including the stables, the mess, demonstrations buy the Farriers and Saddlers, and equine displays in the Indoor Riding School. Enjoy a  chance to ride in a horse drawn carriage, dress up in uniform or join in the funfair. The event is free.
