How far would you go for the perfect coffee shop? North London Mums would go pretty far and so just before Christmas we got ourselves along to Fred and Fran in lovely Stoke Newington to see what the fuss was about. Luckily we weren't disappointed as this really is a totally lovely spot with fantastic cakes, a great and relaxing atmosphere and very friendly owners. Definitely worth a visit. As soon as we get a childfree day, you'll find us sat there with a coffee and a newspaper...
Whilst we were in the neighbourhood, we came across Make Do, which is right next door and does fantastic sounding craft workshops for children. Their website is under construction so contact them on email@example.com for details of the when and where.
The Tea Rooms, another favourite Stoke Newington venue.
And finally, we've previously reviewed the Museum Of Childhood but can't mention East London without saying again what a great place this is to visit with children. The current exhibition Magic Worlds runs until March and is really worth visiting. Amongst other things children can dress up as a witch and stir a massive cauldron (see above for evidence of how much children and adults alike will enjoy this opportunity), attend a mad hatters tea party and disappear down the rabbit hole. The museum is an excellent day out and if you visit on a Sunday (as we did and recommend) you can park right outside for free.
We'll be visiting The Geffrye Museum soon too but if you have any other places you recommend taking the kids to in East London or anywhere else, do let us know. Have a great weekend.
