Looking for a fantastic party entertainer in North London? Look no further

North London Mums has a really useful directory of local North London businesses and every week we will introduce you to one of the businesses who advertise with us. This week we want to tell you about Mini Minstrels who advertise in our Children's Party Entertainers and Venues section. If you're looking for someone who can do a fantastic party for your children, for some great resources for teaching music to children or maybe even in starting your own franchise, read on!

Alison and Fiona, the creators of Mini Minstrels, started their business back in 2005. They met at a mums and tots group and as mums they were passionate about educating their children using music. They started off the partnership by running their own themed music classes which became successful quite quickly. They were keen to remove the stuffiness sometimes associated with more traditional music classes. They wanted to make the classes fun and enjoyable (as well as educational) for the children. They would always incorporate a fun game during the lessons and it soon became apparent that these would make fantastic party games.

So, Fiona and Alison set about creating their party business. They created their first story adventure party ‘Princess Barbie and the Pirates’ and tried it out for Alison’s daughter Holly, for her 5th birthday. It was obvious from the start that their style of story adventure party was unique, immense fun, kept the children fully engaged throughout and was going to be a great success.

The party business evolved and grew mainly by word of mouth in the early days. Parents of children who attended a party would ask for details and request a booking there and then. The customers would ask for specific party themes based on their child’s favourite book, film or TV show or more obscure themes such as a kangaroo and the man in the moon! Fiona and Alison found that they were able to bespoke their parties based on what the children liked at the time. Their creativity is boundless and to date they have developed over 50 themes ranging from their most popular Pirates & Princesses to  Dr Who, Star Wars, Daisy Meadows, Ben 10, Dora the Explorer, Knights & Damsels, Shrek, Fireman Sam, Hello Kitty, Harry Potter, Toy Story, Popstar, Little Big Planet, The Gruffalo, Peppa Pig to their most recent creation The Octonauts to name but a few!  The age ranges from 3 years right up to the teens.

The adventure parties always have a storyline based on the party theme and this is intermingled with lots of fun and mad games throughout. The Mini Minstrels teams receive tremendous feedback from their parties and they receive regular repeat bookings. Here is just some of their most recent feedback:

I just want to re-iterate again what a fantastic time Harry and his friends all had at his Gruffalo party and how easy you made the day for me (particularly with the little one too!).

We would like to say a big thank you to all at Mini Minstrels who made our sons Fireman Sam birthday party such a fantastic time for him and all his friends. All the mums and dads had a super time too and were pleased that their children became involved in the fun and games despite only being 2 and 3 yrs old. The photos of Duncan (the school teddy bear) and the party were taken into school and proudly displayed on the wall for all to see. Thank you again, this is the 3rd time we have witnessed a Mini Mninstrels party, each with different themes and all are to a very high standard.

Peppa Pig Party. Thank you so much for making Savanna's 3rd Birthday a very special one. We were very happy with the entertainment and the kids were so well occupied and entertained throughout the party. The parents too enjoyed as they were able to relax and enjoy the party as you all had the kids involved with great activities. We look forward to having you again for Savanna's and her little brother's birthdays in time to come. Good Job Mini Minstrels !

Alison and Fiona kept the music business running alongside the parties and very quickly amassed a huge variety of material. They have structured this material into a series of themed music books. They have published 2 books (All Aboard – First Stop for Mini Minstrels and All Aboard – Through the Seasons with Mini Minstrels) and plan to publish 8 books altogether. They are busily working on book number 3 (All Aboard – Around the World with Mini Minstrels).

Fiona and Alison wanted to make their style of music education available to everyone and so the books are aimed at anyone, musical or not, who has a need or desire to teach music in the early years. The music lessons take a very sensory approach to learning and are being used successfully in nurseries, schools and by mums who want to run their own music classes as a business, without having to buy into an expensive franchise. Alison & Fiona are about to launch into e-books and have created a topical and fantastic music lesson for The Olympics, which will be available to download from their website very soon.

The Mini Minstrels music classes and parties use a lot of visual props which, in the early days, were made by Alison & Fiona. They have now begun to get their props designed and manufactured, giving a much more professional vibe to the Mini Minstrels brand. Many of the props used are toys in their own right and so some of these items are available to buy on the Mini Minstrels website.

The future plans for Alison and Fiona are to continue publishing the series of All Aboard music books and to make the individual lesson plans available for download via their website. They will also be offering their books in e-book format. They are also very keen to franchise their party business as they receive many party enquires up and down the country, which they cannot always fulfil. The design and development of their props is ongoing and indeed the toy buyer at Harrods has shown some interest in what Mini Minstrels are producing and has agreed to meet with Alison and Fiona in the Spring 2012.

If you are interested in booking a Mini Minstrels party for your children or if you are interested in their music books and perhaps becoming your own music practitioner, then please visit their website or contact Alison or Fiona directly. Their details are:
