Vanilla Pie Photography specialises in portrait photos, including portraits of pregnant mums and newborns. She also runs workshops for parents, to teach basic techniques and tips to ensure that you get the best photographs of your family as they grow up.
For Monika, photography is a deep-rooted passion, "Ever since I remember I've always loved the whole idea about photos, those endless stories being told by thousands of pictures I was developing all the time... My house (back in Poland and now here in London) is packed with frames, walls full of them, even cupboards and the kitchen spice rack have also got some pictures. " Monika, who has a 3 1/2 year old daughter, sees photographs as a unique way to capture memories, "I cried a lot of times looking at my photographs, I laughed out loud, I can smell the specific flagrance from the time and place the photo was taken, I hear my daughter's laughter when I look at her giggling photos". She even selected her nappy changing bag for the photo slots and carried around the first photo of her baby.
A trained teacher and now a photographer, Monika decided to bring these two areas of expertise together to give parents informative and fun workshops where she hopes to inspire her passion for photography in others, as well as teaching the theory and key tips for taking good photos. As a mum herself, Monika has experienced first hand the challenge of trying to get a decent photograph of your child ("You run after them, you bribe them, you beg them, you get angry with them, you give up"). The 4- hour workshop sessions take place outdoors and cover tips & tricks for taking photos of children, camera settings, knowing the light and composition. Also included is a printed manual of all the key points and tips and 1 week of online support after the workshop.
