Appy Monday! You need never forget anything again

Do you constantly have things floating in and out of your brain that you forget to act on? Make mental notes that you promptly forget? A couple of things that just never get done? Then the Evernote app could seriously transform your life.

Evernote makes it easy to remember things big and small from your everyday life. It allows you to "Stay organized, save your ideas and improve productivity." It can be used across  your computer, phone, tablet and the web. We started with the app which is New York Times ‘Top 10 Must-Have App’ and has also impressively been a winner in the TechCrunch Crunchies, Mashable Awards and the Webbys.

It's easy to see why. The Evernote app allows you to take notes, capture photos, create to-do lists, record voice reminders. Ever woken up in the middle of the night and thought of something you must remember for the next day? Instead of sending yourself an email (yes I have done that!)  either make a note or even whisper a voice reminder. I particularly love the audio recognition element- the app instantly records your voice (or indeed any sound in the vicinity) and you can store and tag it to re-listen to later.

I must admit I am addicted to this app- frankly it makes me feel organised- something I can usually only aspire to. So, you create your record, be it a photo, audio recording, physical note, and then save it in one of the notebooks which you can create.  Tag your notes so that if you are searching for a particular theme or category, you can easily bring them up by tags.

You can also share your notes or notebooks with our friends or family- just email them an invitation to join. Which means that you could jointly organise an event via Evernote by inviting your relevant friends to join. Yippee. You can also share your notes via facebook and twitter- so you can show off to all your followers just how organised you are! And notes are searchable- even text within photos and pdfs.

You can sync your Evernotes to any device that also has the app- so for example on my mac, where I can also capture web pages that I am interested in saving.

What we loved: A seriously addictive app that takes away any excuse for forgetting things.

What we didn't: It does take a little bit of time to figure everything out on the app (although once you do it does feel intuitive to use)- an in app guided tour would be helpful. There are actualy quite a few tutorials on YouTube!

Vital Stats:
Cost: Free but with premium options to access notes off line, additional security, share editable notebooks and search in PDFs- £3.99 a month.
Compatible with: iPhone and iPad

But wait- there's more....

If you are a bit of a foodie, then Evernote Food is the app for you. This is a free app for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. The app lets you capture, share and relive your memorable meals and the food you love. You can use the app to take and organise photos of your food, add a title, your location, tags, captions and additional notes about the experience, and share meals with family and friends on Twitter and Facebook. The app cleverly syncs with your main Evernote account. Perfect meals, interesting dishes and unusual settings are often challenging to capture- Evernote offers an easy way to do it. Enjoy!
