Last weekend of the Easter holidays and still going strong- lots on this weekend, especially in local theatres- which could be handy for rainy days!


The Moscow State Circus is at Alexandra Palace this weekend with the sensational extravaganza Babushkin Sekret. Inspired by the legend of 'The 12 chairs', the new show takes us on an incredible journey in the company of some of the greatest circus performers on earth. The show combines contemporary & classical circus in way never before witnessed.
We love the sound of Kid Carpet & the Noisy Animals at Jackson Lane Theatre which is running this weekend. This new rock and roll musical featuring hit songs, animation and a live dance contest! With lo-fi technological wizardry, comedy and punk rock, this is an uplifting show which will have you rocking in the aisles. For children 3-8 years.
The Little Red Hen at The Little Angel Theatre

The Little Angel Theatre is showing The Little Red Hen an intimate interactive storytelling piece for 2-5 year olds involving puppetry, song, live music and lots and lots of joining in!

Egg and Spoon is the performance this weekend at the Unicorn Theatre for children aged 5 and under. Offering a magical exploration of the 4 seasons, children can join the magic circle to celebrate spring to autumn and back again.

Kentish Town City Farm is offering pony rides for children 4+ from 1.30pm both Saturday and Sunday. 



Saturday is the last day to head to Shakespeare's Globe to experience the Dream Space. Discover a world of wonder, magic and mayhem and help mischievous Puck and fabulous friends on their quest within The Midsummer Night’s DREAM SPACE. These 60 minute immersive storytelling performances are told by a stellar cast of performers and puppets, including puppetry direction by Finn Caldwell (from Handspring “Warhorse” – and Blind Summit).


If you are visiting the Southbank, The Royal Festival Hall has a performance of The London Jungle Book at 1pm-  which sounds like a truly unusual experience. In this extraordinary travelogue, London metamorphoses into a fantastical jungle-like place inhabited by some bizarre creatures and customs - London buses morph into dogs, Big Ben doubles as a cockerel, and tube trains burrow like purposeful worms. The performance is a work-in-progress collaboration bringing together students from E15 Acting School, musicians and Elephant Cast Theatre Company, supported by the National Theatre Studio. Tickets on a first come first served basis.

The Forge Venue in Camden is holding a Children's Music Workshops for children 1-4 years at 10 am on Saturday- see our previous review here.

For a lovely theatric experience head to the Lyric, Hammersmith to see the Snail and the Whale, performances at 11am and 1pm.  From the makers of The Gruffalo comes a brand new tale about a very brave little snail. A tiny snail hitches a lift on the tail of a huge humpback whale and together, they go on an amazing journey. But disaster strikes as the whale becomes beached in a bay. Can the tiny snail save the day?For children 4-10 years. 

For more theatric pursuits, the Waterloo East Theatre is showing Monty and Mirabella- a brand mew interactive family show for all ages. Step into a storybook world of imagination and investigation as Monty and Mirabella take you on a musical uplifting slapstick journey.They love to play, they love to laugh, they love to dance  and as they do anything could happen, and probably will, as they discover "The Little Things".

Little Red Riding Hood is the Saturday morning show this week (10 am) at Lauderdale House, for children aged 2-6. The Story Hat presents this traditional tale in a fresh new way, inviting the children to join in and help the story along. Plenty of interactive fun with songs, dancing, percussion and the magic Story Hat... 

And if you want to party it out, then head to Tottenham Leisure Centre where Heavenly Urban is hosting a Back to School party 3.30- 7, for children 3-13.

Sunday 15 April

The Mayhew Animal Home is holding "Hyde Bark" . The event runs from 10am - 6pm and will be jam packed with  stalls, entertainment and activities all day, including the amazing 'Diamond Dogs' Dog Show 10.30am - 12.30pm with special guest judges and the 'Diamond JubiLEAD' sponsored dog walk starts at 1.45pm. All money raised will go directly to helping our cats, dogs and rabbits at The Mayhew Animal Home.


And for that all important retail therapy..

There is a Haringey Families Nearly New Sale, at St George’s Hall, Cranley Gardens, N10 3AH on Saturday  10.30-11.45.


Head to the Of Cabbages and Kings arts and crafts Market at Abney Public Hall, Stoke Newington, 10- 5pm Saturday and Sunday, featuring the work of local designer-makers offering a variety of handmade gifts, original artwork and designer home wares.
