Time for tea? We check out some indulgent tea venues

It must be something about the jubilee weekend approaching, but afternoon teas, particularly with champagne, feel rather appealing!
Tea at The Landmark

I recently carried out some research on afternoon tea locations in and around North London, for a family birthday, helped along by kind friends on our Facebook. Thanks to everyone's helpful suggestions, we ended up having a sunny tea time adventure last Saturday at Hanbury Manor ("adventure" because I forgot to tell a significant family member of a change in location- oops).

Appy Monday! Get your kids fired up about food with the ABC Food app

On the search for a new app to entertain the kids I came across ABC Food. This is a sweet app which is all about combining letter recognition with recognising food for kids.

Yes, believe it or not, after  7 years, the London 2012 Olympics are practically upon us, with only 65 days to go.

So what what opportunities are there for kids and families getting involved?

Recipes and ingredients to your door- A service that could seriously change your life!

One of the things I find most difficult to manage is planning and cooking an evening meal. Cereal suppers and takeways seem to have crept into our weekly routine with alarming regularity.  So it was with some excitement that I took up the offer to trial a new recipe and ingredients delivery service from the clever people at  Hello Fresh.

North London Mums talks to Louise Millar, author of The Playdate -a gripping thriller about parenthood, and a North London mum of two

At North London Mums we always like to meet and talk to local mums who are doing interesting and creative things, so we were excited to hear about Louise Millar, a North London mum of two who has recently published her first novel - a thriller set in North London called The Playdate.  If you enjoy gripping thrillers that will have you turning the pages as fast as you can then this is the book for you. I couldn't put it down until I'd finished it and even found myself making dinner for the children one handed whilst finishing the last few pages.

Day Trips Near North London - Seaside towns

When the sun shines, there's nothing nicer than heading out of London with a bucket and spade and an itch to see the sea. These are the best seaside towns that are doable in a day trip from North London (by train or car). Get up early and you can really make a day of it and still be home in time for bedtime. Enjoy.

The only way is...Maldon in Essex

So, early bank holiday morning bright sunshine (soon turned to rain but let's overlook that), North London mum plus family set off in search of adventure, and sea air. Our destination- nearest coast to North London- is Maldon on the East Coast - and yes- it is in Essex (and also the home of the sea salt).

Appy Monday! Best apps for children

We very often get asked to recommend our favourite apps for children and as we've been writing app reviews for almost a year now, we thought that we would bring our reviews together in one place and recommend our absolute favourite apps for children. We've rounded up the best apps for babies, the best book apps for children, the best fun apps for children and the best educational apps. We've enjoyed testing all of these, we hope you'll enjoy using them.

If you enjoy massaging your baby, or are looking for a fresh idea for a baby present, then Tiddley Pom is the answer for you. We reviewed a gift set and my littlest lady ended up freshly scented and, if not exactly chilled, then certainly relaxed.
