It's amazing how quickly half term holidays come around. The June one is just around the corner and luckily there's lots to do - unsurprisingly lots of it has a jubilee theme and a party feel. We round up the best. Next week we'll bring you full listings of what's on over the jubilee weekend so watch this space for that.....
The Arts Depot in North Finchley is showing Tiddler and Other Terrific Tales from 8th-10th June. This is a magical collection of Julia Donaldson’s most popular titles including Tiddler, The Smartest Giant in Town, A Squash and a Squeeze and Monkey Puzzle brought to the stage spectacularly by the team that brought you Aesop’s Fables, Stick Man and Private Peaceful.
Little Angel Theatre in Islington is showing The Ugly Duckling 6th-10th at 11am and 2pm - Accompanied by live music and voices, beautifully made puppets tell the story of the little Duckling who grows up feeling “different”. Meet Mother Duck and her charming family swimming in the moat, the wise Blackbird, the friendly Bug-Eyed Toad and the pompous Great Gobble-Gobble Turkey. Suitable for 3+.
The Go!Go!Go! Show an all-new family pop musical featuring five fantastic new stars of stage, screen and pop. There are brand new pop songs, catchy, easy-to-learn dance moves, magic and loads and loads of laughs. This sing-a-long, dance-a-long show is stacked full of fun. There is plenty of interaction with the audience, who are invited to complete a set of tasks in order to become members of the Gold Go!Go!Go!Getters! Club. And there are plenty more surprises too, for the whole family to enjoy at The Go!Go!Go! Show this summer!
Museum Of Childhood has Playful Puppets, Join in a storytelling session to find out how The Glove Puppet Man helps everyone solve their problems (10.30, 11.15 and 12.00). Make a Punch and Judy puppet at our arts & crafts table (14.00-16.00) and complete our Playful Puppet trail for a chance to win a goody bag. Free to drop in for all ages.
The RAF Museum, Hendon has a week of events celebrating the Diamond Jubilee. More details coming soon.
Grant Museum of Zoology at UCL has family activities all week 1-5pm - themed Extreme Animals. Come and meet some of the biggest, smallest, heaviest, lightest, strongest, cutest, ugliest, weirdest and wildest animals in the Grant Museum. Through our free hands-on specimen-based activities explore some of the animal record-breakers for half-term.
This event is free and there is no need to book..
British Library has Europe's Oldest Book events for the family. Join artist Shelagh McCarthy for this art-based family workshop inspired by the St Cuthbert Gospel, Europe's oldest intact book.
The workshops begin at 11.00 and 15.00 each day and last for one and a half hours. Suitable for children of 6 years and above: please arrive early to get a space.
Cartoon Museum (near Tottenham Court Road) has lots of great half term activities for older children including learn to draw manga cartoons and learn to draw like the Beano! Full details here.
Bruce Castle Museum, Haringey has a week of activities to celebrate the jubilee with the theme of Kings and Queens and Coronations. Free.
British Museum has a whole week of activities with the theme Horses, Hawks and Hounds -
Watch demonstrations, contribute to an artwork, create something to take home or visit the free horse exhibition. Each day will have a different programme, so come back as often as you can.
Suitable for all ages. 11am-4pm. Free, drop in.

Courses and Camps
The very lovely Tea Party in Finchley has Princess School running Weds-Fri 10.30-12. There will be storytelling, face painting, a chance to learn princess etiquette and more. For ages 3-6. Don't forget your tiaras!
Poolside Manor in Finchley has a multi activity day camp running Weds-Fri. You don't need to attend all week.
Fine Art 4 Kids has holiday workshops running in Watford and St Albans. Visit website for details and booking.
Creative Wizz Kidz has an unnacompanied holiday camp for 3-9 year olds in Hampstead and Belsize Park that allows children to get creative in a fun environment.
Holiday Academy runs a day camp in Camden with a programme of arts, drama, sports, team games and music. For ages 3-12.
Cross Keys camps run fun day camps in Hampstead that include art, drama and sport. For 3-13 years.
Sportikids have a camp running from Weds - Friday at Frith Manor School. For ages 3-11 and providing a range of sport and games.
Little Superstars are running exciting multi-sports sessions for 3-7 year olds from Wednesday 6th – Friday 8th June at Highbury Grove School, near Highbury & Islington station. Sessions are suitable for boys and girls of all abilities and are a great chance to learn new sports and skills.
Monday 4 June
As part of the Holloway Arts Festival there is a big bring your own lunch with an arts and crafts session for children under 5. 12-2pm. Royal Northern Gardens, N7.
High Spirits Tea Party, Fenton House: Celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee in style at a tea party with a twist in the beautiful gardens of Fenton House. Get into the Summer spirit of celebration with a traditional tea party on the formal lawn. Cakes, fine teas, deck chairs and croquet will all be on offer.11am-4.30pm
Diamond Jubilee Festival, Golders Hill Park -The day will include: children’s entertainment, live music acts, art, craft and food stalls, community stalls, sports, food and drink.
The event is a family fun day and visitors are invited to either bring their own picnics or utilise the café on site.The day kicks off at 2.45pm with the unveiling of a Diamond Jubilee Weathervane on top of the park bandstand. The event will culminate at 10pm with fireworks and a beacon lighting.
There is a Diamond Jubilee Big Lunch in Arlington Square, Islington, N1 - community celebration with live music, food stalls and games. 1-6pm. Free.
Apples and Pears Massage Cafe in NW11 has a jubilee fun day with a bouncy castle, activities for children including crown making and beading. 9-4.30pm.
Tuesday 5 June
Oak Studio has a Learn To Crochet class - learn how to crochet, we will show you how to get started and will be making some lovely colourful crochet flowers which we will then show you how to make into a hair band, greetings card or brooch, for you to keep or give as a gift. Crochet hooks and all the wool will all be provided by the Studio. Suitable for ages 7 and up.
Keats House Hampstead has an arts and crafts session for families to make felt accessories. 11.30am. £10.
Green Peas Eco-Friendly Art Classes are habing a jubilee themed class in the park for half term - making crowns and union jack flags and getting messy - meeting in Highgate - Waterlow Park Centre ( if sunny in the park, the lawn opposite to the Park Centre) 10-11.30am. For 15 months - 8, £7.50 in advance, £8 on the door.
Wednesday 6 June
There is a Diamond Jubilee crafts session at the library in N4. Cut out Jubilee designs and make your own bunting. Free for all ages. 10.30-12pm

Thursday 7 June
Crafty Chefs have a Jubilee themed cooking workshop at Baskervilles Tea Room.
Oak Studio in Hampstead has a workshop to make raggy dolls - make a gorgeous rag doll using fabrics, braid and buttons you will practise your hand sewing techniques in this project for older children of 8 years and above, younger children can bring an adult to help them. You will make the base of your doll then, time permitting, make some simple clothes. You can always add to the wardrobe at home! 10.30-2.30pm and bring a packed lunch, £44.
Camden Library has Crowns and Tiaras - Celebrate the Jubilee at our craft event in Camden Town children's library on Thursday afternoon 2.30pm - 3.30pm during half term week.
Come and make some colourful Crowns and Tiaras to take home with you.
This is a FREE event for children. Accompanying adults welcome.
Friday 8 June
Fringe Crafts in Muswell Hill has a learn to knit session at 10am.
Kids Kitchen in Whetstone is holding a Jubilee themed cookery workshop for 2.30pm - We’ll be celebrating the Queen’s Jubilee by cooking a festive flag pizza, a suitably royal Queen of Puddings and some delicious mini Victoria sponge cakes amongst other treats, and we’ll definitely be raising a toast with some shampagne cocktails!.
Islington Museum has Flotilla Fun - Celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee with a display about her coronation. You can join in the fun by helping to create a giant floor collage of the Jubilee Thames Flotilla. Make your own boat and decorate it with flags and people. 11am and 2pm. Free. Drop in.
