Recipes and ingredients to your door- A service that could seriously change your life!

One of the things I find most difficult to manage is planning and cooking an evening meal. Cereal suppers and takeways seem to have crept into our weekly routine with alarming regularity.  So it was with some excitement that I took up the offer to trial a new recipe and ingredients delivery service from the clever people at  Hello Fresh.

The Hello Fresh service offers "Amazing Recipes and all the ingredients straight to your door".  In a nutshell, the service delivers 3 or 5 day meal plans, with interesting recipes and all the ingredients in exact quantities delivered to your home. Recipes are created by professional chefs who have worked in world-famous restaurants. The dishes are planned to be well- balanced with approx 500-750 calories, and easy enough to make in 30 minutes. Sound too good to be true?  I took up the offer to trial a 3 meal plan to find out.

Food box + recipes
The food box was delivered on time to my house, and sure enough it had all the ingredients for 3 meals for 2. The ingredients were very fresh, and the portions of meat high quality and generous. Each recipe comes with a smart recipe card with step by step instructions and photos to follow. On the first night we enjoyed teriyaki chicken with coconut rice, and then paprika chicken salad on the second night. Now, I've had a go at Jamie's 30 minute meals and (first time round) failed to complete anything in less than an hour. But these dishes were honestly made in 30 minutes start to finish, easy to follow, stress free, definitely healthy and delicious (my husband hasn't stopped raving).

Yes I made it! Teriyaki chicken
The only downside for me is that the approach of sending all the ingredients in exact quantities means that there are lots of little bits of packaging- perhaps there is a more eco-friendly approach.

But other than that I really can't fault the service- and my husband is already planning his next order.
How much would it set you back? A 3 meal plan costs £39 per week, £59 for a family of four and £89 for six. Prices for a 5 meal plan range from £49 to £129 a week. If I have a busy week ahead, I will definitely do it again.
