What's on for the Diamond Jubilee in North London? Loads!

If you are planning ahead already for the Jubilee Weekend here's a round-up of what's on in North and central London over this special weekend. Get your Union Jacks ready!



Saturday 2 June

Diamond Jubilee Vintage Fair at Bruce Castle Museum, Tottenham - 1am-4.30pm Step back to the 1950s and rock on down at our Diamond Vintage Fair this Jubilee Weekend. There will be vintage clothes, retro household goods, books and vintage-inspired gifts (of all periods), Music from the 50s and vintage cafe and there is also a children's workshop to make a Punch and Judy puppet. Entry £1.50 for adults, children free.

Hampton Court has a Jubilee Garden Party. What better setting than this could there be to celebrate this historical event? It a vintage 1950s British garden party. Pack the strawberries and scones and pop the fizz to celebrate the 60-year reign of The Queen. Join us to recreate the classic street party of yesteryear as the long tables, Union Jacks and bunting are out in force in the East Front Gardens.
There will be free entertainment in the gardens for all the family throughout the day, including:
- A snazzy brass band performing classic 1950s hits to get you up on your feet
- A classic Sooty and Sweep show for you to laugh along with
- The chance to meet intriguing characters from the 1950s including past grace-and-favour residents of the palace
- Materials to create your very own celebratory bunting and other art and craft activities
- Retro village fĂȘte games including egg and spoon and sack races for all the family
- A right royal children’s fancy dress competition, come as your favourite monarch!
Free entry to the palace gardens.


Hyde Park Family Festival is one of the weekend's highlights - it's a two-day family festival featuring live music and entertainment, a Kids Zone, the Disney Zone, the Parade Ground and The Commonwealth, with Harambee African drummers, Maori Haka dancers and more. There will be traditional British food and cream teas will be served. The highlight is 'The Magic of Disney in Concert', with music, songs and characters from films - along with all ten Disney Princesses. A special event not to be missed. Adults ar £20, children £12.50 and family tickets £13 each for a minimum of four tickets. Tickets are on sale here. 

Stoke Newington Literary Festival is on all weekend and has some fantastic events for children including a Meet The Gruffalo event today. Full programme here.

The Queensbury in Willesden Green NW2 in collaboration with Busy Rascals are holding a Family Fun Fair to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee weekend! Kicking off with Kimmy Kidz' Rhyme at 10.30am, this will be followed by a fun-filled day full of food, face painting and entertainment! 10.30am-5pm. RSVP to info@thequeensbury.net

Lauderdale House, Highgate has a special event to celebrate the jubilee - make a crown, rosette or a royal puppet. Tickets £6 per child.  10-12.

Highgate Library has a jubilee family garden party - there will be gardening, crafting, storytelling, quizzes, music, book sale and more. 2-5pm and in bad weather it will be inside the library.

East Barnet Royal British Legion has a street party - starts at 12pm, the road will be closed off to allow for stalls and bouncy castles, raffles, tombolas, hog roast, bbq, live entertainment, dancing, face painting, ice cream, tea/coffee, cake stalls pie stalls, BAR OPEN ALL DAY ,
entertainment all day and right up to 12 midnight.

North London Vintage Market is back for a Jubilee vintage special on Saturday June 2nd! Kick off the bank holiday weekend with cherry picked dealers selling a huge collection of unique curiosities, collectables and mid century ephemera stretching right back to the 1952 Coronation and beyond!  Come and pick up genuine, nostalgic and affordable items for the home and wardrobe from bygone eras!
To add to the celebrations, there will also be a Jubilee tea parlour to keep you stocked up with tea and cake, and vintage hair and make-up specialists Candy Pout on board to help you perfect your retro look! Come and start the bank holiday in vintage style from 10am!
Admission £1.50. Accompanied children free   

Sunday 3 June

Church St Street Party - The party will be taking place on Church Street and you can find British Food, Market Stalls, Live Music, Entertainment and Games. It's completely free so don your best frock and head along for a fun filled afternoon because one thing is for sure those N16'rs know how to party! Sunday 3rd June, 12pm - 3pm Church Street, N16

Brent Diamond Jubilee Party, Wembley Arena Square The fun takes place at Wembley Arena Square, right outside Wembley Arena which will be transformed with a bunting-strewn backdrop for an afternoon of food, entertainment and togetherness to celebrate the Queen's 60th year on the throne. There will be picnic tables and chairs for 1,000 guests and as it coincides with the nationwide Big Lunch, we are encouraging party-goers to bring a picnic and share with fellow revellers.

Holloway Arts Festival Big Day Out - Whittington park. This free event runs from 1-5pm. There's live music for the grown ups and a really great range of art workshops for children and young people.

Alexandra Palace is having A Right Royal Ally Pally Jubilee Celebration - Built for a princess and maintained as the People’s Palace, this is the perfect place to spend Jubilee Sunday, picnicking with friends and neighbours in our glorious parkland.
Join in our official Royal celebrations by enjoying a red white and blue themed day with us and being a part of the Big Jubilee Lunch which is taking place nationwide. There will be ice skating displays, bouncy castle, face painting, traditional cream teas and much more.

The biggest event today is of course the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant - a floating celebration of the jubilee with over 1000 boates on the Thames. There will be music, fairground rides and lots of family entertainment but do expect very big crowds.

And for a non jubilee themed, but supremely family friendly day head to the second year of the Apple Cart Festival in Victoria Park, Hackney - there's loads on for children including a play area, magic tent, book tent and more plus loads of great music and comedy. Sounds fab.

There is a street paty in Finchley on Clifton Avenue for local residents from 1-5pm. There will be a fancy dress parade, stalls, bouncy castle and live music.

The Fortune Green Big Lunch is also today -  there's a magician, a cardboard model of Windsor Castle and lots of food and fun.

Museum of Childhood has a Right Royal Rumpus - make flags, listen to stories and join the royal parade. 12-4pm. 

Monday 4 June

As part of the Holloway Arts Festival there is a big bring your own lunch with an arts and crafts session for children under 5. 12-2pm. Royal Northern Gardens, N7.

High Spirits Tea Party, Fenton House: Celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee in style at a tea party with a twist in the beautiful gardens of Fenton House. Get into the Summer spirit of celebration with a traditional tea party on the formal lawn. Cakes, fine teas, deck chairs and croquet will all be on offer.11am-4.30pm

Diamond Jubilee Festival, Golders Hill Park -The day will include: children’s entertainment, live music acts, art, craft and food stalls, community stalls, sports, food and drink.
The event is a family fun day and visitors are invited to either bring their own picnics or utilise the cafĂ© on site.The day kicks off at 2.45pm with the unveiling of a Diamond Jubilee Weathervane on top of the park bandstand. The event will culminate at 10pm with fireworks and a beacon lighting. 

There is a Diamond Jubilee Big Lunch in Arlington Square, Islington, N1 - community celebration with live music, food stalls and games.  1-6pm. Free. 

Apples and Pears Massage Cafe in NW11 has a jubilee fun day with a bouncy castle, activities for children including crown making and beading.  9-4.30pm. 


Tuesday 5 June

One Blenheim Terrace in St Johns Wood has a stylish street party with barbecue and pop up cocktail bar. Tickets £15.95 adults, £6.95 kids if booked in advance and more on the door. They promise us they will be very child friendly - sounds lovely.  

Keats House Hampstead has an arts and crafts session for families to make felt accessories. 11.30am. £10.

Green Peas Eco-Friendly Art Classes are habing a jubilee themed class in the park for half term - making crowns and union jack flags and getting messy -  meeting in Highgate - Waterlow Park Centre ( if sunny in the park, the lawn opposite to the Park Centre) 10-11.30am. For 15 months - 8, £7.50 in advance, £8 on the door.

Tetherdown School has a community party for those who live in the neighbourhood - bring your favourite food or drink to the school hall for 3.30pm. There will be activities for children and adilts. 2-4pm.
