It's the weekend! What's on 23 and 24 June for the kids!

There are so many fantastic things on this weekend we cannot wait.

West End LIVE takes place 11-3pm Saturday and 12- 5pm Sunday. West End LIVE showcases the quality and diversity of entertainment on offer in the heart of London, promoting the West End as an exciting venue for all the family – all live, all for free in the iconic setting of Trafalgar Square.
The event features showcase performances from every  West End musical, live bands and a wonderful array of interactive exhibits from many of London’s top museums, galleries and cultural institutions.The schedule of events is here. Free. Suitable for all ages.


We're really excited by the Junior Open House Weekend  running this weekend. Junior Open House Festival is London's first ever free and inspiring children’s architecture festival. The two day festival will turn young people into detectives of architecture – Architectives! by exploring great architecture in the City of London’s Square Mile. The festival is packed with activities, tours and workshops in iconic buildings and public spaces, from Legobusier to Kite Clubs, Scooter Trails to Spacemakers! The Hampstead Summer Festival takes place this weekend, with a large range of stalls and lots of fun for the  kids ranging from children's fairground rides to a sports zone, circus skills and much more.  Suitable for all ages. The festival culminates in a big street fair  on Sunday on Heath Street with stalls, entertainment and activities. The festival is organised by local people and proceeds go to charity. This weekend is also the Greenwich and Docklands International Festival  (runs 21- 30 June). London’s leading festival of free outdoor performing arts (theatre, dance, and street arts) is an annual 10-day celebration of extraordinary outdoor events .  In 2011, the Festival featured over 200 performances by 46 national and international companies with more than 80,000 people attending the outdoor shows in East and South London. Saturday 23 June


Baby Loves Disco is hitting London with a party at Sway, WC2 from 1-4pm.  With 4 different rooms to enjoy from the flashing dancefloor, glitterballs and mirrors of Groovy Wonderland, to the elegance and sophistication of Crystal and the relaxed calming influence of Milk and Cream - this really is a late night out in London transformed for your child friendly afternoon convenience. Sounds fabulous!

The Proms at St Judes, which runs from 23- 30 June, has a family concert on 23 June at 12.45. BBC Elstree Concert Band, Andrew Morley conductor with Henry Kelly narrator and Tubby the Tuba. Be ready for foot-tapping and hand-clapping to the music that children (and the rest of us) know and love!

Meet Barbar the elephant at Waterstones Barnet  from 11am. Super Saturday Story Time at 11am in Waterstones  and Special Babar Appearances throughout the day (see Waterstone's for further details).

The Lauderdale House Saturday morning show (10am and 11.30)  is 'elliott at the Olympics" by the Bangers and Mash Touring Company. As the London Olympics excitement builds,  Elliott the  mischevious dog, is sent off on his next adventure. Will he run the 100m or jump the high jump?  You’ll just have to come along and find out for yourself!

For a bit of retail therapy head to the antiques and crafts fair at the Highgate Literary and Scientific Institution, from 10 to 4. 


Sunday 24 June

The Orchestra of the Age of the Enlightenment is holding an event entitled  OAE TOTS: Going on a Journey at the Royal Festival Hall at 11am. Join Cecelia Bruggemeyer, double bassist from the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, on a lively journey around Europe. Suitable for 3-5-year-olds and their parents. Free, but book tickets in advance.


The NW6 Sale takes place on Sunday 10am- 2pm at Salusbury School Hall (adjacent to the extremely popular Queen's Park Farmers Market), Salusbury Road, Queens Park, NW6. The sale promises to host a divine selection of stalls,  with designers such as Samantha Morris, Vevian, Tina Sparkle, Hayley Menzies, Francisco Rico, Chic and Seek, Charlotte Clemence, Pookie and Peach, Age of Reason, Kathy Andon and Moochic Baby - all there to tempt you... so you can pick up some stunning treats along with your organic veggies... and with no entrance fee, a win win all round.
