What's on this weekend- 7th and 8th July- get your dancing shoes on!

Another busy weekend with dancing, dancing dancing (and some museums too).. we can't wait!

 It's a BIG weekend a the fab RAF museum in Colindale. The "Barnet's Finest" weekend, sponsored by  Big Lottery Fund combines outdoor family fun with help and advice for local people from various community action groups. Activities include Bollywood dancing, wild bird displays, Bouncy Castles, Fairground Rides, Face Painting and Saturday concerts from the Barnet band at 12 noon and 2pm. Community groups on hand to give help and advice to visitors include Age UK Barnet, Victim Support Barnet, Sangam Association for Asian Women, North West London Credit Union, Barnet Police Community Services and Barnet Work Finder plus many more.

The Kensington Palace party takes place this weekend on Saturday and Sunday 12- 5.30pm.  Join in a weekend of free dance workshops for all ages and abilities by the Gold Gates in the gardens of Kensington Palace. Sessions include rock'n'roll and maypole dancing.

The "Points on a Compass" event at  HMS Belfast this weekend has free drop in sessions 11am–12.30pm and 2pm–4pm where you can find out more about the countries, cultures and journeys HMS Belfast has taken whilst in service. Suitable for all ages.

This weekend is the launch of Big Dance Week which runs from 5th  to 15 July. Activities include a Step Up To Dance session at the Arts Depot, Finchley, and a day of dance outdoors in Camden. For a full listing of events look here.

Saturday 7 July

The Little Angel Theatre is holding a summer party from 1-5pm. The event starts with a parade of puppets by the Saturday Puppet Club and Crafty Kids Club, and shows by the Youth Theatre.  There will be puppet making workshops where you can make a puppet to take away with you, puppet demonstrations by professional puppeteers, a chance to meet the puppets of our current show, and backstage tours of the theatre and workshop will run throughout the day. Suitable for all ages.

Join the monthly Dino Snores sleepover at the Natural History Museum on Saturday night!
Beginning at 7pm, for groups of at least 5 children 8-11 and 1 adult, enjoy an evening of adventures including a torch-lit trail in our famous Dinosaurs gallery, a live show about creatures that bite and sting, Revenge of the Minibeasts, and creating your own plaster fossil to take home.

This is the last weekend to experience the Universe of Sound at the Science Museum. This interactive experience re-creates the feeling of being part of an orchestra, using state of the art technology including: touch screens, movement-based interaction and planetarium-style projection. Visitors will be able to take on the role of a musician, conductor or even a composer as well as creating your own unique Planets musical experience by joining in as a musician, conductor, arranger or composer and recording performances that can be posted and shared online.

The Spaniards Inn in Hampstead is hosting Pup Idol 12-3pm in association with the charity All Dogs Matter . Awards for 'Cutest Pup' 'Golden Oldie' 'Best Dressed' 'Owner Lookalike' 'Best Rescue' 'Mr Hampstead' & 'Miss Hampstead' ! Only 20 dogs per category and entry is £5 per dog. All proceeds go to charity.

The Giggles Mother and Child Event takes place in the Trent Park Golf Club Southgate.  The event promises  lots of things to do for children of all ages, an opportunity for parents to see what they can do with their children in their local area, and lovely vendors with beautiful things for mummies to buy and enjoy. There is no entrance fee but please bring any happy used toys that you may have and don't want any more to donate them to the children of the area that don't have any to call their own. 

The Fortitude Festival takes place 12-5 at Fortismere Playing Fields, Muswell Hill. The afternoon promises sport, music raw science, mass sculpture and much more. Not your ordinary summer fair! A family ticket costs £20.

North London Vintage Market is also back for a summer event this Saturday 10- 4 at St Mary's Parish Hall,, Crouch End. The market features 23 cherry picked dealers selling a range of unique vintage items. There's also cake, Pimms and vintage hair and make-up specialists Candy Pout on hand. Go on- you know you want to!
 Sunday 8 July 

The fab sounding Baby Rave Launch Party is taking place at The Pirate Castle NW1. Baby rave is a unique opportunity for parents, babies and children aged up to 8 years to have musical fun with  a festival vibe in a specially lit location. Promises music, lights, bubbles hula hoops and lots of family fun!

The Kilburn Festival concludes this Sunday with a festival in Kilburn Grange Park, with music, dance, sports and stalls planned. 

The Cheeky Monkeys Tea Party in Tottenham takes place this Sunday 2-5pm at Chestnuts Primary School. Entertainment includes Jo Jingles, Vanilla Pie Photography, Tiny Talk, fantastic playground, games, crafts and a raffle. Plus buy your burgers and salads at out BBQ and finish off with some yummy cake and ice cream. All the family welcome!
