North London Mums' Guide to Santa's Grottos

Meeting' Santa Claus is a very special occasion for children so we've rounded up the best places to find our bearded friend this year in and around North London.

Central London

Visit Selfridges London from 30 November until 24 December and you’ll find plenty of festive surprises to add some sparkle to your Christmas shopping trip. A host of charming characters will be roaming the store every day, offering festive cheer, music and treats wherever they go.
The stars of show, Santa and his elves, will be joining us in Kids and Toys on 4 from 10am to 6pm (4pm on 24 December) everyday. The whole family is invited to meet him and share their Christmas wish lists before taking away a complimentary framed photograph with Santa. More festive details here.

Staying central, there is also a Santa's grotto at the Hyde Park Winter Wonderland.  Get your Snow boots on for a wonderful North Pole experience, with children’s rides, shops and where Santa himself will be waiting to welcome you all to his grotto! Visits with Santa 10am-6pm daily.

Of course, where else would you expect to meet Santa but at Hamleys. Meet Father Christmas and his team of Elves who are preparing for the BIG day! Choose from a selection of magical experiences where there will be scrumptious food and Christmas activities to enjoy. Each little guest will have an individual chat with Father Christmas, hearing tales of Lapland and magical stories of Christmas. Then, when it times for Father Christmas to leave, his special guests will receive a small gift to take home. From 1-24 December. Booking information here.

Santa has also kindly opened a grotto at Brent Cross where you can meet him for free.

The fabulous sounding
Enchanted Christmas House in Islington offers a truly memorable adventure with a journey through The Garden of Winter Wonder, The Gingerbread Kitchen, Mrs Claus’s sitting room, Santa’s Grotto, The Busy Elves Workshop. The tour includes a series of interactive workshops and activities, where kids can make presents with the Christmas elves, have their faces painted, join in the Gingerbread Kitchen. Until 24 December.

There is a Christmas Wonderland at Crews Hill Nursery in Enfield, which is possibly the largest Santas Grotto in Europe!  This is very popular and also sells christmas decorations.

You can also meet Santa at London Zoo where you can meet his reindeer herd, get a present and have your picture taken with Santa and his helpers. Only a few dates left so book now.

Santa is also in the house at Lauderdale House on 15 and 16 December! Booking required!

Beyond North London

Willows Farm Village is hosting a Santa grotto until 24 December between 10 am and 4.30pm. There is also a daily calendar of festive events including an ice rink, Christmas sing-along and festive wood ride.

This Christmas is truly going to be special at Westfield London. Westfield London’s Grotto is the UK's first to have a 5D film and each child's name and picture will feature in the film, as Elbow the Elf saves Christmas. Pre-booking is advised.

Buckhinghamshire Railway Centre has a Christmas extravaganza where you can travel on a steam train, meet Santa and even meet Thomas The Tank Engine if you book for certain dates. This is selling out fast so book soon.
