The South’s Largest Model Engineering & Modelling Exhibition returns this weekend to Alexandra Palace. Over 50 clubs, societies and displays will be present with over 1,400 fantastic models on show. Exciting demonstrations including remote controlled helicopters, trucks and tanks also take place in the Model Active Zone and the Imagineering Foundation will also be on hand to talk to budding young engineers. Passenger rides behind the 5” gauge steam locomotives are also a popular attraction. 10am to 5pm, 18- 20th January. For all ages.
The France Show is taking place at Earls Court this weekend with a range of activities and exhibits – from wine tasting to holiday inspiration, and from sampling cheese in the market to improving your French in the language theatre. The France Show also hosts the largest French Property Exhibition in the UK, so come and meet the experts and find your dream home. 18- 20 January. For all ages.

Enjoy a Date with Dad at Victoria Library 10.30-11.30am. Fathers and male carers can take part in telling stories, singing songs, and doing arts and crafts with their under 5s.

The Saturday morning show at Lauderdale House is Goldilocks and the Grumpy Bears. The well-loved story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears is given new life by actors, puppets, mime and three very grumpy bears! With lots of songs, action and audience participation all the children can join in with time-honoured pantomime traditions. Time: 10:00am. Ages: 3 to 6.
The vintage Electric Cinema in Portobello has a Kids Club screening of Frankenweenie 3D (PG) at 10.30am. This Tim Burton film is a sweet tale about a boy and his dog. After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life—with just a few minor adjustments.

Celebrate Tu B'Shvat with the JCC in Belsize Park for a creative celebration of the New Year for Trees. Suitable for the whole family with games, crafts, food and fun! The little ones will be creating jam-jar gardens (yes – a miniature self regulating garden in a jar!), making festive food and doing amazing things with leaves! There will also be separate sessions for adults and older children on the theme of urban sustainability, led by the inspirational Deborah Rothenberg from ‘Ground to Ground’. A bit further afield, the Design Museum is holding an Amazing Adornments workshop 2-4.30pm. Inspired by the contemporary jewellery in Unexpected Pleasures, children can create a piece of wearable design. Using a range of craft and modelling techniques, children can make unique decorative arm gauntlets, shoulder adornments and collars.Cost £5 per child. Suitable for ages 5-11.
