Weekend Round Up - 28 and 29 September

This weekend brings the huge and family friendly Countryside Live to Lee Valley Park- The weekend is packed full of arena displays, falconry, sheep dogs and ferret racing. There’s also a range of traditional countryside activities to come and try including willow weaving, corndolly making and wood turning or if you just want to watch, you can marvel at the blacksmith demonstrating his trade.There’s animals galore too!  From the more traditional farm animals of sheep, goats, ponies and calves, we’ve also got some smaller animals for you to have a hold of including rabbits, guinea pigs and tortoises.  We’ve got some shy and unusual visitors including bats and otters and some critters from foreign places too! The whole family can get busy with a range of activities including flower pot animal making, apple pressing, flower making, planting tree seeds and identifying minibeasts.

Hello Autumn term! We love the sound of the 21st London Open House weekend- from local houses to the Battersea power station there's loads to see. Plus plenty of other children's events including a bugtastic sleepover at London Zoo!

The annual and exciting Thames Festival is on this weekend with free events running along the Thames all weekend. Highlights include Tower Beach which has family events running all day on Sunday, Blue Ribbon Village open all weekend which tells the story of the ecology of the Thames and has free family activities all weekend and much more. Competition to get a children's classic back in print!

Hesperus Press are asking members of the public to submit the out of print children’s classic they want to see republished!
This October, Hesperus Press is launching a new imprint, Hesperus Minor, which will publish a carefully selected list of well-loved children’s classics introducing them to a new generation. These are nostalgic books which adults of will have fond memories and want to share with their children and loved ones.
