Weekend Round Up - 9th and 10th November


Jacksons Lane, Highgate is showing We're Going On A Bear Hunt - A family go on an expedition of a lifetime - running down the grassy bank, wading through the cold river, squelching over the oozy mud, stumbling into the dark forest, then peering into a cave… but what will they find?
Little Angel Theatre brings Michael Rosen's thrilling and funny adventure to life in a brand new puppetry production. 1.30pm and 3pm for ages 2+.


Saturday

It's the Lord Mayor's Show today with over 7000 participants, 21 bands, 150 horses, 23 carriages carts and coaches, and hundreds of other vehicles; vintage cars, steam buses, tanks, tractors, ambulances, fire engines, unicycles, steamrollers, giant robots, helicopters, ships, penny farthings, beds and bathtubs. To tie in with the Lord Mayor's Show, the Bank of England has a free family day - Professional face painters will transform young faces into Toad, Ratty, Badger and Mole, the popular characters from "The Wind in the Willows", whose author, Kenneth Grahame, was Secretary of the Bank over 100 years ago.11am-5pm, FREE.

Whilst the Wellcome Collection undergoes renovation it is taking its Curiosity Show on Tour in a converted routemaster. It is at Camden Lock this weekend - you can take part in unique object handling sessions, delve through the image archives, watch retro films and pick up Wellcome Collection souvenirs at our pop-up shop

Phoenix Cinema Kid's Club is showing The Pirates In An Adventure with Scientists -  Pirate Captain has one dream: to beat his bitter rivals Black Bellamy and Cutlass Liz to the much coveted Pirate Of The Year Award. It's a quest that takes our hero and his rag tag crew from the shores of exotic Blood Island to the foggy streets of Victorian London.

Comedy Club 4 Kids is on in Soho today - A proper comedy club for anyone over the age of 8, featuring the best comedians on the circuit doing what they do best… but without the rude bits!

There is a family arts drop in session at the Zabludowicz Art Collection, Camden - Get creative using the current exhibitions as inspiration. Led by artist Effie Coe, we explore different creative ideas, materials and processes each week. For ages 3+, FREE. 

There's a great family friendly fireworks display at Moss Hall School, West Finchley tonight from 5.30pm. 

Sunday

Arts Depot is showing Mazymeg and the Honey Bees -  Albert lives alone with his beloved honey bees on Dartmoor, a mysterious land where nothing is as it seems. For ages 4+, 12pm and 3pm.

Baby Rave have their Dream World Ball today at Pirate Castle in Camden - 3.30-5pm.

Got a child who's a born comedian? Take them along to the School of Slapstick at 3pm at JW3 today - one-off, hands-on, tip-filled practical session in how to create great visual gags. Inspired by classic comedy movies, you’ll learn the basic techniques of slapstick and hone your drama skills.
Then you’ll be given costumes and props and get the chance to star in and direct your own short film within the session. Create a movie to enjoy with your friends and family.
