The Wigmore Hall has a family day starting at 10.30am. Wigmore Hall Learning has teamed up with the Science Museum for a day exploring the wonderful world of waves. Spend the morning at the Science Museum discovering their incredible exhibits and experimenting to create some weird waves of your own and then take your ideas back to Wigmore Hall after lunch to transform sound into music. Cecil Sharp House has a May in a Day family folk festival event from 2pm. Weave your way into Cecil Sharp House for our popular annual afternoon May in a Day! family folk festival. Themed around all things textiles, stitch and spin around the maypole with Liam Robinson and band, make arts and crafts inspired by textures old and new with Yan Tan Tethera project artists, and enjoy an abundance of other folk-fuelled fun including barn and morris dancing, stories, songs, live music and more!
If you fancy travelling further afield, head to Valentine's Mansion for a May Fair 11am to 4pm. Enjoy a day of music and entertainment in Valentines Mansion and the surrounding grounds. With a wide variety of art and craft stalls, live music from Redbridge Music School and Fairlop Brass and the maypole dancers from St Margaret's Church. Children can also enjoy joining in with activities in the Victorian kitchen.
The Saturday morning show at Lauderdale House is Spoon and Button. Spoon, Bott, Peep and Pudding are coming to Lauderdale - are you ready?! Think magic, songs, games, parachute fun, bubbles, puppets, interactive adventures and general ridiculousness and you may just begin to see what these four clowns have planned. Performances at 10 and 11.30.
The Covent Garden May Fayre and Puppet Festival takes place this Sunday, at St Paul's Church, Bedford Street. The festival brings together Punch and Judy professors from around the country for a day of jolly old-fashioned fun. The grand procession at 11am is led by a brass band, and culminates with a birthday toast to Mr Punch, who turns 352 on the day.
The RAF Museum is hosting the annual Model Show. Now in its 6th year, the show features over 40 models including miniature figures, planes and ships. There is also a special event entitled Model Futures which celebrates the art of science fiction model making in film and television with talks and presentations by industry insiders.
The Jacksons Lane theatre is showing Inspector Sands Rockpool at 12pm and 3pm. A big storm leaves two very different creatures stranded in a rock pool far from the sea. As their little pool starts to drain away Prawn and Crab don’t have long to find a way of getting on and getting home. Funny, tender, exuberant, partially submerged theatre from award-winning company Inspector Sands. Featuring rock music and splashy dancing! For children aged 3+.
There is also a children's show at The Arts Depot, Finchley is Monday's Child. Grandma can’t remember much, but does remember to visit every week and play until bedtime. The child loves days with her Grandma; they sing, laugh, learn, dance, dress up and imagine! For children aged 3- 7 years. Performances at 11am and 2pm.
