When you first see the name North London Mums, it sounds very specific. Almost like you need a particular postcode, a nearby park, or knowledge of a certain school run to belong here.

You don’t.

This site isn’t really about a place. It’s about a person.

We simply had to start somewhere, and North London was the beginning. A starting point, not a boundary. A name on the door, not a list of who is allowed inside.

Because motherhood, wherever you are, carries many of the same feelings.

The pressure to keep everything running smoothly.
The constant thinking ahead.
The quiet worry about whether you’re doing enough.
The guilt when you stop for five minutes and sit down.

A mum in a London flat, a village house, a coastal town or a busy city all knows that same invisible workload. Different surroundings, same weight on the shoulders.

North London Mums isn’t here to give perfect parenting advice. There are already plenty of places telling mothers what they should be doing. This space is here for the part that rarely gets spoken about — how you are doing.

Your confidence.
Your tiredness.
Your identity.
Your need for space sometimes.
Your need to feel like yourself again.

The name stayed because every community begins somewhere, and this was ours. But the door was never meant to stay closed to everyone else.

If you’re a mum and you’ve ever felt overwhelmed, stretched thin, lost in responsibilities or quietly wondering when you get to be a person as well as a parent, then you’re in the right place.

You don’t need to live in North London.

You just need to recognise yourself here.
